Suck it up and swallow!

Most people start their day with a hot cup of coffee. I begin my day with a shot of wheatgrass. In my opinion there is no better way. Okay, so it doesn't taste as good as a cup o' joe but the health benefits and energy FAR exceed. In fact an ounce of wheatgrass can give you the same energy as 2 cups of coffee without the negative effects of caffeine! Many people cringe at the thought of consuming one ounce of this "miracle food". My hope is that after telling you all the benefits you will not care what it taste like.

Chad and I cheers to starting the day off right!!

I could seriously write 20 pages on the benefits of this amazing grass but allow me to highlight a few:

Wheatgrass Benefits

-Two ounces of fresh juice equals 3 pounds of organic vegetables in vitamins and minerals

-Wheatgrass is high in oxygen like all green plants that contain chlorophyll. The brain and all body tissues function at an optimal level in a highly-oxygenated environment

-Science has proven that wheatgrass chlorophyll arrests growth and development of unfriendly bacteria

-Dr. Ann Wigmore has been helping people get well from chronic disorders for 30 years using wheatgrass

-Repairs DNA by getting into the tissues, refining them and making them over

-washes drug deposits from the body

-neutralizes toxins in the body

-helps purify the liver

-improves blood sugar problems

- cures acne and even removes scars after it has been ingested for seven to eight months (The diet must be improved at the same time.)

-acts as a detergent in the body and is used as a body deodorant

-A small amount of wheatgrass juice in the human diet prevents tooth decay

-Wheatgrass juice held in the mouth for 5 minutes will eliminate toothaches. It pulls poisons from the gums

-Gargle Wheatgrass Juice for a sore throat

-Drink Wheatgrass Juice for skin problems such as eczema or psoriasis

-Wheatgrass Juice keeps the hair from graying

-Wheatgrass juice improves the digestion

-Wheatgrass juice is high in enzymes

-Wheatgrass juice is an excellent skin cleanser and can be absorbed through the skin for nutrition. Pour green juice over your body in a tub of warm water and soak for 15 to 20 minutes.

-Wheatgrass juice is great for constipation and keeping the bowels open. It is high in magnesium

-increases the function of the heart, affects the vascular system, the intestines, the uterus, and the lungs

-reduces high blood pressure and enhances the capillaries

-removes heavy metals from the body

-is great for blood disorders of all kinds

Okay now you are listening :) and you want to know how to get all these benefits in your body.

1st: if you don't have a juicer, run don't walk, and buy yourself one that can juice fruits, veggies, and wheatgrass. Juicers can be pricey but I would say pay a little extra for one that is not going to make a fuss when you use it frequently. Also, you want one that is easy to clean. Here is a picture of ours. It is the Omega 8005. It works great! You can put any fruit, veggie, or grain through it and it doesn't even hesitate.

2nd: Scout out a health food store or vendor who sales wheat grass flats. (You can grow your own pretty easily. If you want info on that let me know.) If you live near me go the the Keauhou Farmers market. We have a vendor who sales the best wheatgrass I have ever had. Dark leaves, organic, and grown in good soil.

3rd: Set up your juicer, Wet the tips of the grass blades and throw it through the juicer.

4th: Close your eyes, suck it up, and swallow!
(....oh, and if you are at a place that offers the orange slice for right after the shot say no. The acid in the orange reduces the benefits of the wheatgrass.)

Of course, the benefits of wheatgrass are highlighted with a healthy lifestyle, and high-quality living food.

Lauren,

Love your blog! I'm finding myself wanting to be a juicer after reading this info on your blog and reading Bree's. Thanks for the good information. Keep the great posts coming!

I found your blog through Brooke and I love what you have to say. Keep the info coming and motivate me to give up every last bit of literal crap I put into my body! (gross)
I definitely want to hear more about growing your own wheat grass.
And after reading about the additives from your previous post I also want to know what the best way to kick cravings is. What foods can really satisfy and get rid of those cravings.
